Top 4 Pro Travel Tips Every Beginner Traveler Should Know

Ready to embark on your first big trip as a solo traveler? You’ve packed your bags, you’ve planned your entire trip itinerary, and you’ve even picked up some extra cash just in case things go south. But you can never be too safe, can you?

If you want to become a pro traveler and minimize any risk of your trip going wrong, we’ve prepared five of our favorite pro travel tips that every beginner traveler needs to know. Whether it’s packing appropriately for the climate or knowing what medicine to take, these pro travel tips can take your trip from great to legendary. Let’s get started!

Pack Appropriately for the Weather

If you’re planning on visiting a warm destination such as Florida for example, you already know what to expect when it comes down to the weather. Considering the climate is almost always warm, sunny and humid, you’ll want to pack lightweight, breathable clothing for your trip. Things like light cotton tees, shorts and a nice linen button up shirt for the evenings would all be great choices. Yes, you’ll definitely want to bring your swimsuit and yes, you’ll definitely want to bring your favorite summer clothes.

However, you might also want to account for the fact that it could rain. Our advice is to prepare for any reasonable type of weather that might hit your location. Yes, Destin does have chances of raining so you might want to bring some type of rain jacket. However, the likelihood of a snowstorm hitting Destin is very low so maybe keep the winter jackets at home.

Bring a Power Strip

You’re going to be a hero amongst friends if you bring a power strip. Whether it’s at the airport or in the hotel, you’re going to be hard-pressed to find an outlet for every device you bring on the trip, especially if you’re going with friends. Just think about how clutch you’ll be during a five-hour layover at LaGuardia when you and your friends can only find one outlet to share everything.

Never Pass Up Going to the Bathroom

Unfortunately, we have all made this mistake way too many times. You’ll never know what to expect on a flight. You could have anything from a two-hour delay minutes before the plane takes off to a last-minute emergency that you thought you could hold off halfway into a flight.

Sure, you can use the in-flight bathroom but there could be a line and the bathrooms at the airport definitely provide more comfort and convenience than a tight, on-board bathroom that’s being shared by who knows how many passengers.

Back Up Everything

Unless you have a spare device for work and leisure for every type of electronic you own, you’re going to want to back up everything onto a hard drive. Furthermore, as tempting as it may be, you don’t want to bring this hard drive with you on the trip either. If your laptop and hard drive get stolen, then it’s game over.

Then, when you’re on vacation itself, make sure to back up any photos you take as well as any other relevant pieces of information that might be on your electronic devices. This’ll save you so much time and hassle if your camera, phone, or laptop breaks while you’re on the trip.
